About the role

MGL Demolition is a leading provider of asbestos management services, committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance. We are looking for a driven, dedicated and experienced Asbestos Contracts Manager to join our team and oversee our asbestos removal projects.

You will be critical in managing all asbestos-related activities, ensuring they meet our highest internal SHEQ standards and strictly comply with all relevant safety regulations and other compliance obligations to which the business subscribes. Key to this is overseeing and upholding all requirements relating to the Company’s Asbestos removal license to ensure ongoing and future accreditation.

As a key member of the operational team, you will manage all aspects of our asbestos contracts from the enquiry stage to overall completion. The role involves liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, as well as supervising and training staff, preparing and monitoring budgets, and resolving any issues that may arise during the lifecycle of the contract. The responsibilities attributed to this role ensure that asbestos is managed safely and effectively, protecting workers and the public from potential hazards.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee multiple asbestos removal projects from the procurement stage to overall completion within timescales and budgets.
  • Ensure all projects strictly comply with all relevant safety regulations and other compliance obligations to which the business subscribes.
  • This will involve the preparation and cascade of required documentation, including HSE Notifications, Plans of Work (for Licenced, Notifiable Non-Licensed Work (NNLW) and Non-Licenced Work), Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) and current industry standards required before any asbestos removal operations taking place and throughout the project.
  • Coordinate and maintain clear communication with clients, site teams and regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive
  • Lead and support all teams, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation. This includes chairing MGL’s Asbestos Working Group
  • Monitoring and auditing the quality of surveys and removal works, ensuring they meet required standards
  • Supporting the project team during 3rd party unannounced audits (ARCA) and statutory authority visits (HSE)
  • Assist in the compilation of PQQs and Tender bids with asbestos-related specifics
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Supervise and conduct training needs analysis (TNA) to help identify what topics should be covered to ensure workers have the right level of competence to avoid putting themselves or others at risk.
  • Support internal teams to ensure all mandatory compliance training and health surveillance and medicals are undertaken and renewed to prevent lapses
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

What we are looking for

  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in managing Asbestos Removal and at least three years of experience providing written quotations for Asbestos removal projects
  • Relevant industry qualifications in Asbestos Management and Removal
  • RSPH Level 4 in Licensed Asbestos Removal Contract Management
  • P406 Supervision and Management of the safe removal and disposal of Asbestos
  • Technical Knowledge is essential with an in-depth understanding of asbestos removal practices, procedures and regulations.
  • Relevant Asbestos Contracts Manager Training
  • CSCS Card for Asbestos Removal Manager (Black)
  • A full clean Driving Licence is essential
  • Candidate should possess strong Leadership skills to manage and motivate teams
  • You will need to be proficient in IT with good knowledge of Office 365 and SharePoint
  • Experience with Assure360 cloud-based solution to asbestos management, incident reporting and health and safety auditing or similar is desirable
  • The ability to thrive in pressure situations and work on own initiative
  • Excellent organisation, communication, problem-solving and time management skills
  • You will be thorough, with good analytical skills and pay meticulous attention to detail
  • You will work well with others, accept criticism well and work well under pressure
  • You will be career driven, resilient and have a strong work ethic
