Framework Overview

Since 2013, Rainton Construction has been the incumbent contractor for delivering highway surfacing requirements throughout Newcastle. This includes planing, traffic management, road marking reinstatement, footways and cycleways.

Tynedale Roadstone produces materials, including our sustainable asphalt solution, Plastipave®.

Key Project

The Killingworth Road and Haddricks Mill Junction Improvements Scheme is a North East radial route into Newcastle City Centre. It has two roundabouts within approximately 100 yards of each other and seven access and egress points. We collaborated with the council to plan and deliver planing and resurfacing works on this complex stretch of highway network.

The scope of work included installing a five-way traffic light head system by our supply chain partner and laying 5,000 tonnes of bituminous materials in several work phases.

The final four-week phase included working off-peak, twilight and night shifts for continuous progress to completion.
