Church Road, Murton

Project Overview

Rainton Construction recently laid our innovative asphalt, Hazigrip, in Murton. Following a successful trial in Ferryhill, the anti-skid material consistently exceeded expectations and met all required standards. Produced in-house by Tynedale Roadstone, Hazigrip has a High Stone Polish Value (PSV), which ensures the material provides optimum skid resistance. The red-coloured material draws attention to high-risk areas.

Safety and Sustainability

The use of Hazigrip significantly improved road safety by providing superior skid resistance and clear visual differentiation of junctions and skid-prone areas. We further minimised the environmental impact by eliminating the need for imported aggregates. The local production of this material at our Barton Asphalt Production Facility reduced the project’s carbon footprint, aligning with our commitment to sustainability.

Summary

This project was completed successfully, marking the first official scheme using Hazigrip after the trial. The innovative material has proven effective in enhancing road safety and sustainability, setting a new standard for future projects in the region.
