MGL Group & K2 Host Golf Day to Support Mental Health in Construction

MGL Group has partnered with K2 Construction Management for its annual charity golf event. Over £6,000 was raised to support the wellbeing and welfare of construction workers and their families across Teesside and the wider UK.

Rainton Construction, part of MGL Group, is part of K2’s project delivery team for the world’s largest monopile factory. The construction management consultancy is developing the facility for SeAH Wind on part of the Teesworks site.

Stakeholders and partners of the scheme came together at the Rockliffe Hall Hotel & Spa near Darlington, County Durham, to fundraise for two mental health charities.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity provides emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families. The Link Charitable Trust helps children, young people, families, and adults across Redcar and Cleveland.

With two construction workers taking their own lives every working day and stress, anxiety, and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses in the UK, it’s more important than ever to support employee wellbeing. MGL Group is a company supporter of the Lighthouse Charity and understands the importance of its vital services.

Dave Elliott, Joint Chief Executive of MGL Group, said: “We’re thrilled to strengthen our partnership with K2. This event was a testament to our shared values and commitment to positively impacting the construction industry and the region. By raising awareness about mental health and offering essential support, we’re working towards a stronger, more resilient community. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to make a tangible difference.”

James Grant, Head of ESG and Corporate Relations at K2 Construction Management added “A massive thank you to all of the amazing businesses that came along to support these brilliant charities and especially MGL Group for all their help in putting the day together. In three years, this partnership has now raised over £16,000. A huge amount which will make a significant impact. And an extra shout-out to everyone for sticking with us through the rainy weather—it really meant a lot, thank you!”
