Our social value team enjoyed visiting Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy and working with Year 10 students who could not secure traditional work experience placements this year. It was a fantastic way to strengthen our partnership and showcase the diverse and exciting world of the construction industry.
During the session, we provided an overview of MGL Group, highlighting the wide range of projects we work on and the comprehensive range of services we offer. A key focus of our visit was to promote the different routes to employment in the construction industry.
We shared information on T-level placements, structured apprenticeship programmes, and degree-level pathways, ensuring students were aware of the avenues open to them as they consider their future careers. Students participated in a hands-on activity designed to foster teamwork and develop practical skills—a taste of the collaborative nature often found on our project sites and in our offices.
By engaging with young people and showcasing the dynamic possibilities within construction, we hope to inspire the next generation of talent to consider the exciting careers our industry offers.
