MGL Earthworks Part of Northumberland Rail Line Project

MGL Earthworks is working on the Morgan Sindall Infrastructure Northumberland Rail Line project at Palmersville Underpass. This is part of the new framework contract with Northumberland County Council to build six new stations and new railway infrastructure.

Supporting specialist contractor Pod-Track, we are carrying out Bulk Earthworks to enable the installation of pre-cast units to form a pedestrian underpass beneath the railway. The team has undertaken topsoil strip works and is progressing with the 110 m-long SPMT ramp for the unit installation.

The County Council is working with the Department for Transport, Network Rail and Northern Trains Ltd on the ambitious programme to reintroduce regular passenger trains between Ashington and Newcastle by 2024.

We are proud to be part of this ambitious scheme, which will boost the region’s education, employment, and housing prospects.
