MGL Demolition Clears the Way for the World's First Health Innovation Neighbourhood

MGL Demolition is clearing the way for a new facility dedicated to health research and innovation. The Health Innovation Neighbourhood (HIN) will offer solutions for living, leisure, learning, and employment. Our expert team will safely demolish the vacant former General Hospital site on the western edge of Newcastle city centre to enable the delivery of this transformative project.

Working in partnership with Newcastle University, Genr8Kajima Regeneration, and Newcastle City Council, the collective goal is to pioneer approaches that help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The demolition represents a significant step forward in redeveloping the 29-acre brownfield site. The mixed-use development will include research, academic and health facilities, residential institutions, residential dwellings, business and commercial uses, community and leisure amenities, marking a new era in community development.
