Work continues on Commercial Union House

The MGL Demolition team is continuing the demolition of Commercial Union House in Newcastle City Centre. This is one of four structures being demolished to enable the Pilgrim’s Quarter development.

The demolition of the 1970s office block with a six-storey overhang is a highly complex project in a busy city centre environment. We have established strong communication links, and our skilled team is working closely with all stakeholders to quickly, safely and effectively demolish the eight-storey building.

The land around Pilgrim Street is undergoing massive changes. Dex Car Park has already been demolished, and Bamburgh House is the next building to be cleared. The interior of the Grade II-listed Carliol House on Market Street will also be demolished, but its façade will be retained.

We are proud to support the transformation of the area.
