As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we exhibited at the virtual Tees Valley Careers Expo to inspire younger people to work in the construction industry. This year’s theme is ‘Build the Future,’ reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals develop the skills and knowledge to build a rewarding career.
Our sector-based Construction Academy, in partnership with Derwentside College, is underway. We are committed to developing the next generation and met with a group of male and female unemployed learners. They were engaged throughout the session and attended a site visit to Gateshead Multi-Storey Car Park. The enthusiasm was fantastic, and we look forward to progressing the programme.
We attended the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Jobs Fair at Grangetown United Community Hub. The return of face-to-face events meant we could meet with local people and potential applicants to discuss the job opportunities and apprenticeships we have in the area.
To date, we have supported 90 people through higher education learning routes. Our apprenticeships are a great opportunity to get on-the-job experience and a great qualification with support and encouragement from the team. We are educating, training, and developing our people to be the best.
