Acting as career advisors on behalf of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and through our ongoing partnership with Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy, we are helping to shape the delivery of career advice in the region.
To help fulfil the requirements of the government’s Gatsby Benchmark, we presented Year 10 students with their career and training options beyond school. We gave an overview of the work carried out across our organisation. Members of Team MGL gave a brief career history and an overview of their qualifications. Discussing their roles and day-to-day responsibilities provided pupils with an understanding of the opportunities that exist in construction.
As part of our ongoing support, we are also undertaking weekly sessions to ensure all Year 11 pupils have the opportunity for a mock interview. Through our engagement programme, we are supporting 258 pupils, helping them improve their confidence and allowing them to practise interview skills.
By driving ‘earn and learn’ skills training opportunities, we can secure our future talent pipeline, inspire future employees to address the skills gap and future-proof our industry.
