Dave Whitehouse, Head of Research and Product Development for Tynedale Roadstone, has received an award for Outstanding Achievement at the Constructing Excellence North East (CENE) Awards 2024.
With a career spanning over five decades, Dave is passionate about the construction industry and dedicated to making a positive impact. He was introduced to the industry at the age of eight while helping his father maintain his dumper truck at Pickering Quarry.
Since joining MGL Group in 2013, he has helped implement several innovative solutions, including our Plastipave product range, a long-term, cost-effective, sustainable asphalt solution for end-of-use waste streams. He has also incorporated recycled nappy pellets into asphalt mixes.
Over the years, his developments have earned the company many environmental accolades from Constructing Excellence and the Civil Engineering Contractors Association.
Recently, Dave has been instrumental in forming a partnership with Low Carbon Materials (LCM) to produce net zero asphalt. Working with Durham County Council, this first-of-its-kind material has significantly advanced the industry’s sustainability efforts.
In the future, Dave is keen to continue his work with bio-binders for a sustainable bitumen alternative and is full of ideas for continued innovation.
His career represents a legacy and an outstanding contribution to the asphalt profession and the construction industry. He is a worthy winner and deserving of recognition through this award.
We would like to congratulate Dave on his fantastic success at the CENE Awards. Dave’s contributions to the industry are truly remarkable, and we are thrilled that he has been recognised for his dedication to the industry. This award is a true testament to Dave’s hard work and passion spanning over 57 years. Well done, Dave!
