Licensed asbestos removal | Decontamination

Project Overview

MGL Demolition was appointed to remove notifiable asbestos insulation debris from within the loft space of the Grade II listed building in North Yorkshire. The loft area was divided into three areas: area 1, approximately 156m2; area 2, 280m2; and area 3, 280m2.

All on-site works were undertaken under fully controlled conditions and delivered per our Site Operating Procedures for COVID-19 compliance.

Scope of Works

The scope of works was as follows:

  • Installation of extra walkways to provide additional access.
  • Enabling works, including removal of a section of ceiling.
  • Cleaning of contaminated materials that could not be reasonably cleaned via removal.
  • Asbestos removal using asbestos enclosures, haz vacs, decontamination units, and ancillary equipment.
  • Full decontamination of loft space following removal works.
  • Encapsulation works to the fabric of the building.
  • Reinstatement of removed ceiling section upon completion of works.
  • Waste removal following our Materials Management Plan (MMP).

Summary

We completed the work in 8 weeks, one week ahead of the agreed programme. This project was completed safely and successfully during the COVID-19 pandemic.
