World Alzheimer’s Day is part of the awareness month and takes place on 21st September. It is a global opportunity to raise awareness, educate, encourage support of and demystify dementia
This year’s theme is Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s, with a special focus on post-diagnosis support. We’re encouraging everyone to know the signs and symptoms of dementia so they can get the right diagnosis and support as quickly as possible.
Alzheimer’s Society is a United Kingdom care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers. Their website has lots of information to help people before, during, and after a dementia diagnosis. It includes dementia publications and resources in different formats, including summarised and simplified information. There are also guides, factsheets, and booklets that give a general overview of various topics.
Globally, dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face, with nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide. To tackle this international dementia challenge, we need to work together and share best practices.
