MGL Group continue to demonstrate success across quality, health & safety and environment
From our base in the North East of England MGL Group has provided a range of construction and demolition services since 1972. With a commitment to high levels of quality, health & safety and environment the organisation has moved its external assessment for ISO to Ocean Certification in 2020.
Despite unprecedented times with a worldwide pandemic, MGL Group have successfully completed Ocean’s reassessment across a number of ISO standards, gaining UKAS accredited recertification until 2023.
Andrew Slater, Group SHEQ Director explains;
“Gaining and maintaining ISO certification isn’t just a tick in the box for MGL Group. ISO runs throughout the heart of our business; formulating a culture of a high standard of working to maintain exceptional quality, safety and sustainability within delivery across our sites.
We are deligted to achieve recertification at the recent round of assessments conducted by Ocean Certification.
Paul Hutchinson, Group Q & E Manager who lead the project for MGL Group added
“Our audit plan had become complex and resource intensive. Ocean proposed a timetable that streamlined assessment days across the group companies, making the best use of time, resulting in a much more efficient and effective approach to auditing.”
MGL Group successfully gained recertification for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NHSS and SSIP after a mix of remote and onsite assessments.
“With the current challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic a large proportion of the audits were delivered remotely and where site visits were necessary, they were conducted safely.
The audit process and experience was extremely valuable. We have identified some areas of improvement to increase business performance further; which is exactly why we invest in ISO.”
Austin Gibbons, Ocean’s lead auditor explains;
“It’s been such a pleasure working with Paul and the team who fully embraced the auditing process. MGL Group’s systems are clearly managed to a very high standard. Our approach isn’t to look for fault but to positively identify areas where the business can improve in an ever-changing environment.
It’s great to see a business that embraces change and is keen to constantly adapt and move forward.
They haven’t let COVID-19 stop their commitment to compliance and business improvement, and that’s fantastic to see.
Well done to everyone at MGL Group for an outstanding assessment. Certification is well deserved.”
