MGL Earthworks are the Principal Contractor carrying out Demolition, Bulk Earthworks and Construction activities, working within a live primary school to make safe a previously encountered void space beneath their playground.
We have excavated to expose competent ground (natural rock), removing and disposing a large volume of contaminated material and demolishing Victorian bricks walls and arches, part of the former Laygate School which was demolished in 1971.
Quarried stone has been imported and used to backfill the large void, whilst a new reinforced concrete retaining wall was constructed with a brick facia.
The final activities will see a reinstated tarmac playground with climbing frames and a MUGA football pitch. Good standard of both Safety and Quality maintained throughout and a great relationship established with both Client (STC) and the staff of Laygate School.
