MGL Group continue to encourage students to broaden their horizons and inspire them to look at the wide range of career opportunities open to them in the Construction Industry.
The Senior Management Team at Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy work throughout the year to bring local and national businesses, along with representatives from the armed forces, police and fire brigade, the care sector and further education establishments into the school, to inspire the students and encourage them to investigate their career and training options beyond school.
The Gatsby Benchmarks require schools to assist students to experience meaningful engagement with industry from year 7.
One of the many events this year, was the Lord Lawson Careers Fair on Thursday 21st November. Two Senior Managers and Construction Ambassadors from MGL Group attended as career advisors on behalf of the North East LEP.
The students from years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 visited all of the stands in the main hall and spoke to the company and education representatives about their job role, their qualifications, opportunities, apprenticeships, training and job descriptions.
Simple conversations with members of industry can often inspire students to think 'outside the box', and learn to apply their core subjects to job roles that they could apply for.
The event was very well attended by pupils of all ages.
