Monday 10th July saw two year 12 students from Richmond School attend Tynedale Roadstones Barton Plant for a week of work experience
Shusil Malla and Bruno Dias spent the week learning about Asphalt Production under the guidance of Production Plant Manager Dave Whitehouse and Graduate Will Slack
The students were given a full safety induction, followed by a tour of the plant in order to understand the production process
As the week progressed , they tried aggregate sampling and testing, producing results and checking against compliance
Transport, logistics, delivery, the use of binders and bitumen completed a full week of a meaningful engagement with industry for Shusil and Bruno
Dave Whitehouse said 'Both Bruno and Shusil were a credit to themselves and Richmond School. They were punctual, polite and had a great attitude to work. They were very interested in the asphalt production process and were happy to complete the tasks that were given to them'
Bruno and Shusil are both hoping to progress onto careers in engineering, we wish them the very best of luck!
